Tuesday 1 July 2014 (Day 6)
We are Staying at Adels Grove
Happy 25th wedding anniversary my darling husband Terry. What a wonderful way to spend this anniversary, best ever! thank you for being a wonderful man, husband and provider you are my one in a million.
Grove is a hub for campers, birds, wallabies, frogs and other unseen fauna. It is very pleasant. We drove into Lawn Hill National Park and hiked around Island Stack, Duwadarri Lookout and Indarri Falls and Lookout taking about 4 hours (approx. 9km). The Lawn Hills gorge is a most beautiful and picturesque oasis with a variety of flora both native and tropical. The water is a cool 22 degrees and is a clear blue green that the fish below are truly visible and keen to see if you will drop some food.
It is a popular area for many individuals and tour groups and I am so glad we came. I was at one stage concerned that we drove all that way on a dusty gravel road for nothing but when you see the Indarri Falls it has not been in vane. I hope our photos do the scenery justice.
We had a mild night a minimum of about 10 or 11 followed by a high of 27 degrees, just perfect temperature for the traveller trying to escape winter. We have been thinking is a lovely place for a holiday (as in a put down stay down holiday) just an enormously long drive to get here.
This afternoon we are analysing tomorrow's destination. Given that the kilometres are not such a big seal its the time on the gravel road that slows reaching our next stop. We plan to reach Barkly Homestead which means getting away early.
Nathan found extra timber for our camp fire tonight however being full of termites decided to empty it to feed the birds so we were graced by a willy wagtail, fairy wrens, finches and a bird that looks like a pigeon or turtle dove. They even posed for some photos...how very compliant.
