Sunday 06 July 2014 (Day 11)

We are travelling from Katherine NT to Kununurra WA

We sadly left Katherine for Kununurra. We enjoyed our time there and are looking forward to revisiting on our return.  The travel to W.A. was easy with many caravans to keep us company.  We managed to eat our remaining fruit before reaching the border quarantine and gained 1 hour 15 minutes to our time. Yeh!

We pitched at the Hidden Valley Caravan Park backing onto the Mirima National Park, another opportunity for a couple of walks, let hope not hard 12 km walks.

Having gained out extra time we decided to explore the town, being Sunday nothing open so we took in the 360 degree sight of Kununurra from Kelly's lookout. We also visited Celebration Park a lovely park edging the Lily Creek Lagoon. A popular park for honoured tree planting (and plaques) by such celebrities as John Farhnam and Kate Cebrano.

My sister Kerri who lived up here sometime ago suggested I look out for the Bird Flower which grows happily on the side of the road as all spectacular WA flowers do. Our little jaunt around town today has not revealed said flower, perhaps another couple of days may.
