Friday 25 July 2014 (Day 30)
We are travelling from Renner Springs to Camooweal
Renner Springs was a comfortable overnight stop and Terry slept quite well considering. We said goodbye to Pete and Shirley and hit the road today anticipating crossing into Queensland.
Passing so many of these dressed termite mounds along the highway we just had to stop and take some photos...the creative humour of people is impressive and a source of great entertainment for we weary travellers.
We stopped at Barkly Homestead for lunch which is always a great break and treat for Nathan having the 3 or 4G connection to facebook etc. poor Nate suffering from electronics withdrawal between Telstra towers. The Barkly Highway is a good run and the landscape changes dramatically from bushland to pastoral land. We passed a cattle stock yard with, I could estimate the number of cattle. Trucks stationed nearby ready to load them on. The cattle feed was a great attraction for the cockatoos harbouring in the trees and feeding on the ground around the hooves of the cattle.
We crossed the border at 3.30pm (4pm adjusted time) and camped at Camooweal overnight. Terry feels as though his foot is improving though we are considering stopping at Mt Isa Hospital for an X-ray to exclude a fracture.
